Society Lunch in Gloucestershire

Date: Wednesday 4th October 2017
Venue: The Royal Oak Inn, The Burgage, Prestbury, Cheltenham, Glos, GL52 3DL
Time: 12.00 for 1.00pm
Cost: £32 per person (members) / £38 per person (non-members)

2189686647_c46171d8f0Last year’s Gloucestershire lunch broke all previous attendance records, and was generally reckoned to have been the best yet, so the Society has again booked The Pavilion function room at The Royal Oak Inn for this year’s event. The Royal Oak is situated in the delightful village of Prestbury, on the outskirts of Cheltenham. It is convenient, pretty, friendly and the food (and beer) is often recommended. Pleasant too in the early Autumn, with the Cheltenham Literature Festival to follow and the racing season just over the horizon!

Nigel Johnson-Hill (current Chairman of the Hong Kong Society) will give us a short address

All members who live anywhere within reach are very cordially invited to attend – an increasing number come from outside Gloucestershire. And all are strongly encouraged to bring with them any friends with connections to Hong Kong. Such friends who come to the lunch will be entitled to an attractively extended introductory membership rate: £45/couple through to December 2018 if under 60; £30 if over (in essence free membership for the rest of 2017) if they join the Society before the lunch – as well as the lower rate for the lunch itself

Included will be canapes and a welcoming glass of bubbly, a two-course meal, with tea or coffee to follow. There will be a speaker and lots of opportunities to mingle. It has proved possible in the last couple of years to include a bottle of table wine in the price too – what an offer!   A cash bar for other drinks will be available throughout.

Alastair Scott (Alastair.f.d.scott@btopenworld.com) is again organising this event on behalf of the Society, and bookings and questions as to details, should be directed to him. Please respond as soon as you can as this will aid planning. Alastair will send you the menu options and will ask you for your choices nearer the time

Look forward to seeing you
