Last year’s Gloucestershire lunch – the sixth – was again very well patronised, with good numbers both of those who have been to most previous lunches and of new faces – and an increasing number coming from outside the county. On the assumption that this shows that we have a winning formula, we have again booked The Pavilion function room at The Royal Oak Inn for this year’s event. Situated in the delightful village of Prestbury, on the outskirts of Cheltenham, The Royal Oak is convenient, pretty and welcoming, and the food is invariably praised. Overflowing with racing people during the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival, it is also delightful in the summer sunshine!

All members of the Hong Kong Society who live anywhere within reach are very cordially invited to attend – and are strongly encouraged to bring with them friends with connections to Hong Kong. Any such non-Members planning to come to the lunch, will be entitled to an attractively discounted introductory membership rate (£45/couple through to end-2020 if under 60; £30 if over) if they join the Society before the lunch – as well as the lower rate for the lunch itself

Included will be canapes and a welcoming glass of bubbly, a two-course meal with wine, and tea or coffee to follow. There will be a speaker and lots of opportunities to mingle. A cash bar for other drinks will be available throughout.

Alastair Scott (Alastair.f.d.scott@btopenworld.com) is again organising this event on behalf of the Society, and bookings (see below) and questions as to details, should be directed to him. Please let him know by end-March if you would like and hope to be able to attend. This response will not constitute a commitment, but Alastair will send further information only to those who have replied positively by then – so you might as well do so. Furthermore, cheques will not be paid in until much nearer the time, so there’s no downside to sending yours now!

Meanwhile, do send an email and do mark your diaries. We look forward to seeing you in July
