Event Bookings and Cancellation Policy

To make sure your bookings are definite, your payment must reach us 1 week before the event unless special arrangement is made.

Note: a full refund will only be issued if a notice of cancellation is received at least 72 hours prior to the event (excluding weekends and bank holidays).

stephen_fry_70-copyDuring the dinner Sir David Tang will be in conversation with Stephen Fry.

Well known comedian, actor, writer and presenter Stephen Fry became involved in the Cambridge Footlights in 1981 and has since been seen on TV in Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder and many others. He has been on ‘Just a Minute’, ‘I’m sorry I haven’t a Clue’, ‘Absolute Power’ and has produced a three volume autobiography and been involved in many other broadcasting TV and theatre entertainments.

David-TangSir David Tang has wide interests and a distinguished history of furthering relations between UK and HK. He is best known as the founder of the Shanghai Tang fashion chain. In 2005 he opened the China Tang restaurant at the Dorchester Hotel and has initiated the ‘China Exchange’ in Chinatown.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions after the two in conversation.

As in previous years, the Society will be featuring an item of Hong Kong culture and this year, it is delighted to welcome Sarah Howe to read some of her poetry. A Hong Kong-British poet, editor and researcher, her first full poetry collection, Loop of Jade, won the TS Eliot Prize and the Sunday Times/Peters Fraser and Dunlop Young Writer of the Year Award. She gained a PhD from Cambridge, studied at Harvard, researched further at Cambridge and has been a fellow of the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard. She was one of the judges of the 2015 National Poetry Competition.
